JAMES, ROBERT DOUGLAS and JAMES HAROLD HUTCHISON

James & Robert Douglas Hutchinson were brothers born to James Hutchison (b 1837) & Wilhelmina Ewald (1842-1914). James was born on 19 May 1867 in Port Elgin, Ontario and Robert was born on 23 February 1877 in Bruce, Ontario. They had four other brothers, John (1862-1935), Daniel (b 1865), Henry Gourlay (b 1868) & Andrew (b 1871) and three sisters, Susanah (b 1874), Elizabeth Scott (1879-1932) & Jennie (b 1883). They grew up on the family farm in Saugeen, North Bruce.

James married Jeanette (Jennet) Munro (b 1869) on 15 September 1892 in Toronto, Ontario. Jennet was born in February 1869 to James Munro (b 1833) & Elizabeth (b 1840). Jennet had three sisters, Jeanie (Jane) (1860-1935), Annie (b 1867) & Margaret (Maggie) (b 1870) and six brothers, Andrew (1863-1931), Thomas (b 1865), Alexander (b 1873), John (b 1875), James (b 1877) & Adam G (b 1879). James & Jennet moved to Dryden, Algoma, Ontario where James farmed for a few years. They had one son, James Harold born on 24 August 1895 in Paisley, Bruce, Ontario.

In 1911, James and his brother, Robert were living either next to each other or with each other (the census record is unclear) and appear to be running a hardware store together on 2nd Avenue, Saskatoon. By 1916, James & Jennet had moved to Kinley, a village about 25km west of Saskatoon where James & Robert ran the hardware store.

Robert had married Annie Christine Olson (1887-1914?) on 1 March 1906 in Rainy River District, Ontario. Annie was born in Skeelskoe, Denmark to Hans Olson & Kaien Nelson. Robert & Annie had one son, Robert Ross, (1907-1988). After Annie died, Robert married Priscilla ? (1883-1965) in 1915. Robert & Priscilla had one son Douglas (b 1918).

James & Robert ran the hardware store in Kinley until Robert’s death on 18 August 1948. Subsequently Robert’s wife, Priscilla moved to Saskatoon where she remained until her death on 14 July 1965

James’ son James Harold became a doctor. He married Mary Ann Menzies on 25 July 1928 in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. Mary was born on 6 February 1898 in R.M. of Rossburn, Manitoba to Alexander Menzies & Rachel Ann Harrower. James Harold died on 8 November 1979 in Burnaby, British Columbia.
