ALICE KATHERINE JACKSON
Alice Katherine Jackson was born on 7 March 1905 in Grand Forks County, North Dakota, USA to Bruce Barr Jackson (1878-1921) and Katie Jeanette Burke (1878-1965). Alice had two siblings, Clyde Bruce (1908-2002) and Herbert Donald (b 1910). The family came to Canada after Clyde was born but before Herbert was; so between 1908 and 1910. They were living at 31 Atlantic Ave, Winnipeg in 1911. Bruce was a loan agent.
The Jackson family came to Saskatoon in 1913 and moved into apartment 2, Arrand Block, 522 11th St. Bruce worked as a loan inspector for Great West Life Assurance Co. Bruce died on 31 January 1921 and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.
By 1923, Katie had settled with her three children at 510 10th St which would be the family home for the next 28 years. Alice was a school teacher at Thornton School in the mid 1920s and her two brothers were students.
Alice subsequently moved to Theodore about 300km to the south-west of Saskatoon. She married Obert Christian Reese in the mid 1940s. Obert was born on 2 November 1900 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Frank Reese (b 1869) and Mary Jensen (b 1875). Obert had seven siblings, Myrtle (1897-1978), Mabel (b 1899), Alvln (1903-2001), Henry (b 1905), Duger (b 1907), Roy Gilbert (1908-1991) and William (b 1911). Obert and Alice lived in Theodore all their lives. Obert worked as a machinist before his marriage and an agent and manager later.
Alice died on 22 December 1975 in Theodore. No further information has been found for Obert.
Clyde and Herbert lived with their mother for many years. Katie became a music teacher specialising in piano and mandolin and teaching from her home. Clyde married Margaret Olive Hay (1910-2010) in 1934 and moved to 323 Bottomley Ave, Saskatoon. Clyde died on 17 May 2002.
Herbert worked for Drewrys, brewers and maltsters in Saskatoon.
Katie died on 18 September 1965 in North Dakota, USA. She is buried in Crescent Cemetery, Grafton, Walsh County, North Dakota. Bruce’s body was moved from Woodlawn Cemetery to the Crescent Cemetery with Katie.
