Percy Howard Green was born on 1 January 1886 in Cornwall, Ontario to Edward Green (1821-1891) & Margaret Howard (1849-1920). Percy had one sister, Charlotte (b 1875) and two brothers, Charles Richard (b 1879) & Frederick William (b 1888). Percy grew up in Cornwall, Ontario before high school and university in Toronto. By 1911, Percy had completed his training and was a druggist in Ottawa city.
Percy came to Saskatoon in 1912 and worked as druggist at various Saskatoon drug companies including ST Atkinson, McBean & Marshall and Elliott Drug Company. In 1914 he opened Western Drug Company which re ran until 1935.
Percy married Lella Alberta MacVicar in 1917. Lella was born on 9 February 1885 in Medora, Manitoba to John MacVicar (b 1848) & Mary Jane McFadden (b 1855). Lella had four sisters, Alice (b 1874), Agnes (b 1879), Bertha (b 1889) & Rhoda (1894-1982) and three brothers, Hugh (b 1876), Frederick Ernest (1883-1961) & James (1887-1917). Lella grew up in Manitoba before she went to North Dakota with her parents around 1900. Lella returned to Canada and was living in Calgary in 1906. She came to Saskatoon in 1913 and worked as a departmental manager for J F Cairns until her marriage. Percy & Lella made a trip to Honolulu in 1921 but this seems to have been just a vacation as they were back in Saskatoon the same year. Lella worked with Percy in the Western Drug Co business.
Percy was the proprietor of Green Court an apartment block on 25th St E in the 1940s. Percy died on 23 September 1957 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. Lella died 6 October 1970 in Saskatoon and is buried adjacent to Percy in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Lella’s brother James enlisted in the 15th Battalion, 1st Central Ontario Regiment on 2 February 1915. He was killed in action on 6 November 1917 whilst serving in Belgium. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate, Ypres, Belgium.
