Frederick Ernest Raymond was born on 24 January 1878 in Beaver River, Digby, Nova Scotia to Norman Jacob Raymond (1839-1915) and Lucinda P Crosby (1842-1885). His siblings were: Alice Elizabeth (1861-1953), Arabella H (Bella) (b 1864), Nettie Florence (1865-1886), Georgina (1867-1868), Frank (b 1868), Oscar (1872-1952), Israel Lee (b 1873), Margaret Crosby (1880-1955) and George Douglas (1881-1962). He also had one sister, Norma, born in 1896 to his father's third wife, Lois Augusta (Gussie) Treat (b 1861).

Frederick was raised in Digby County, Nova Scotia. He married Clara Ethel Crosby on 26 September 1900 in Sand Beach, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. She was born on 20 October 1878 in Sand Beach to Silas William Crosby (1845-1919) and Alice Maria Kelley (b 1856). Her siblings were: Stella (b 1880), Emma Kelley (b 1882), Elsie Baker (b 1885), Hazel Keith (b 1888) and Albert (b 1893). Clara was raised in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia.

In 1901 Clara and Frederick lived in Yarmouth. By 1906 they have moved to Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Frederick and Clara lived at 502 Saskatchewan Drive (1916), 1019 Eastlake (1918) and 218 8th St (1921) in Saskatoon. Frederick was provincial secretary for The Retail Merchants Association of Canada Inc. Clara died on 7 November 1949. Frederick died in Regina, Saskatchewan on 26 November 1952 and was married to Hilda at the time of his death. Both Clara and Frederick were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon. No children were listed in census records or in Frederick's obituary.
