Edward Quinn was born on 5 June 1886 in Magheragall, Antrim, Northern Ireland to William John Quinn (1844-1898) and Mary Thompson (1850-1892). His siblings were: William Henry (1873-1941), James (b 1875), Sarah (b 1877), Martha (1879-1902), John (1882), Thomas (1884-1943) and Samuel (1889-1967). Edward and his brother, John, boarded SS ‘Royal Edward' on 8 March 1911 in Avonmouth, England and arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on 14 March 1911. They were destined for Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where Edward was to work as a clerk and John as a carpenter. In 1916 it would appear that they were both living at 223 Ave R South in Saskatoon.
A John and Edward Quinn with exactly their vital statistics were enumerated at that address and they were also listed in the 1916 Saskatoon Henderson Directory at that address. The problem is that Edward was also listed in the Henderson Directory at 123 Ave T South from 1915 to 1922. Oddly, he was enumerated with his brother, Samuel, at 401 Ave D South in 1921 which was also a different address than expected. Perhaps the men living at Ave R were from a different family, but it seems a very strange co-incidence.
Two of Edward's brothers,
Samuel and John enlisted for WWI and are commemorated on the Roll of Honour in Magheragall Parish Church, Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
Edward died on 26 April 1955 in White Rock, British Columbia where he had lived for the six years preceding his death. He was single. His brother, Samuel, was the informant on his death record.
This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Quinn Tree.
