EFFIE PRIOR née McBEAN

Effie McBean was born on 28 May 1879 in Forest, Lambton, Ontario to Duncan McBean (1835-1901) and Jane McKinlay (1845-1922). Her siblings were: Mary (b 1871), Duncan J (b 1871), Catherine A (b 1874), William F (b 1876), Archibald (b 1881), Robert Murray (b 1883), Donald (b 1885) and Alexander (b 1889). She lived with her family in Forest, Lambton, Ontario from 1891 to 1901. In 1911 she was boarding with the Frederick Garbutt family in Milton, Ontario.

Effie married Herman Garfield Prior on 29 July 1914. Herman was born on 4 February 1884 in Exeter, Huron, Ontario to Thomas Prior (1844-1912) and Susan Cudmore (1852-1913). His siblings were: Lizzie (b 1870), Nelson (b 1879), Cora (b 1881) and Olive Beatrice (1887-1969). He lived in Exeter with his family until at least 1901. After their marriage Effie and Herman lived in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba from at least 1916 to 1974. Their children were: Murray Thomas (1915-1979), Jean Margaret (1916-2013) and Douglas McBean (1920-2009). Unconfirmed sources indicated that Effie died in 1974 and Herman on 7 March 1984 at unknown locations.

No connection to Saskatoon could be found for Effie. However, it was noted that at least one person from Winnipeg and several people from Portage la Prairie signed near the Effie Prior signature, so perhaps there was some sort of meeting that brought them to Saskatoon. No other candidate could be found for that signature.

This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Prior Tree.
