EMMA JANE PRESTON née PRESTON

Emma Jane Preston was born on 24 December 1871 in Peterborough, Ontario to George Preston (1843-1924) and Margaret Rosborough (1845-1924). Her siblings were: Mary (b 1873), Ann (b 1875), George Ernest (1877-1931), Alice (b 1879), William James (b 1881), Ethel (b 1885) and Laura Beatrice (1887-1973). The Preston family was in Smith, Peterborough, Ontario in 1881. Emma married Richard Freeman Preston on 8 April 1891 in Birtle, Manitoba. Richard was born on 30 October 1869 in Ontario to Alexander Preston (1833-1909) and Elizabeth Freeborn (1830-1901). His siblings were: Barbara Jane (1856-1866), Joseph Chapman (1858-1903), William James (1858-1870), John Alexander (1860-1897), Margaret (1863-1863), Francis James (1865-1929) and William Thomas (1871-1951). His family was living in Manitoba in 1881. Emma and Richard and family lived in Miniota, Manitoba in 1891 and in Birtle, Manitoba in 1901.

Emma & Richard had ten children: Marvin (1891-1892), Edna Elizabeth (1893-1893), Nina Beatrice (1894-1921), Myrtle Margaret (1896-1914), Vera Elizabeth (b 1898), Eva Maude (1900-1952), Richard Irving (b 1904), George Otis (1907-1981), Inez Irene (1908-1991) and Hazel Elizabeth (b 1912). The Preston family likely moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in about 1906 as George was born there in 1907. In 1911, the family was enumerated at 308 3rd Ave in Saskatoon. Richard Sr died on 21 July 1915 in Saskatoon.

From at least 1916 to 1921, Emma and her children lived at 209 5th Ave. Emma died on 13 July 1948 in Saskatoon and she and Richard were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.
