Thomas Morley was born in January 1880 in Monk Fryston, Yorkshire, England to George Morley (b 1835) and Sarah Ann (1843-1906). His siblings were: William T (1857-1939), Jane (b 1861), Mary Ann (1867-1941), Kirby (1869-1947), George (b 1871), John William (b 1873), Wilfred (b 1879), Jeanette (1882-1956) and Ivy (1885-1964). He lived in Monk Fryston until at least 1891. By 1901 the Morley family had moved to Huddleston cum Lumby, Yorkshire.
On 10 March 1912 Thomas, his father, and his siblings Ivy and George boarded SS ‘Empress of Ireland' in Liverpool, England and arrived in St John, New Brunswick on 16 March 1912. They gave their final destination as Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In 1916 Thomas and his father were living at 819 Ave B in Saskatoon. In 1918 Thomas was listed in the Henderson's Directory at 514 Ave G North. He was at the same address in 1921. In both 1916 and 1921 he was living with his sister, Mary Hemingway, and her family and was employed as a merchant in a feed store and a clerk, respectively.
Thomas married Edith Mary Bates on 12 June 1923. She was born on 24 January 1878 in Rock Ferry, Cheshire, England to George Henry Bates (1846-1910) and Lydia Davies (1848-1888). Her siblings were: John Henry (1875-1891), Edwin (1877-1929), Margaret (1881-1881), George William (1883-1904), Hannah Lillian (1884-1973), Maggie (1886-1902) and Joseph (1887-1887). Edith lived in Tranmere, Cheshire in 1881, Birkenhead, Cheshire in 1891 and Southport, Lancashire in 1901. She immigrated to Canada in 1919 and was living with her sister Hannah MacCoy and her family at 517 Ave I North, Sasktoon in 1921.
Thomas & Edith made a couple of trips to England in 1932/33 & 1935 sailing on SS 'Berengaria' and SS ‘Empress of Britain’.
She died on 31 March 1963 in Essondale, British Columbia and was buried in Ocean View Cemetery in Burnaby, British Columbia. She was a widow at the time of her death and had been in British Columbia since 1938, but a death date could not be found for Thomas.
