ETHEL BAILEY

Ethel Beatrice Clark was born on 1 February 1884 in Picton, Prince Edward, Ontario to William Ira Clark (1837-1921) and Rebecca Richardson (1847-1891). Ethel had seven sisters and four brothers. Some family trees have Rebecca dying in Saskatoon on 18 September 1891. Ethel grew up in Hastings, Ontario before coming west to Manitoba by 1906.

Ethel married Edward George Linton Bailey (1884-1942).

Edward died on 12 October 1942 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. Ethel died on 12 November 1954. Her last address was 118 Ash St, Saskatoon. She was also buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.

Ethel Bailey was born in 1899 in Battersea, London, England to Frederick H Bailey (b 1872) & Harriet Tidswell Simpson (b 1873). Ethel came to Canada with her parents sailing on SS ‘Parisian' from Liverpool and arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia on 26 March 1905.

Fred initially found worked as a carrier for Post Office before reverting to his trade as a carpenter in Saskatoon from 1917. He worked for CNR as a carman in later years. The Bailey family lived at various addresses in Saskatoon; 431 Ave S North (1915-1916), 1011 Ave A North (1917-1918), 220 Main St (1919-1920), 306 Taylor St (1921), 1320 Lorne Ave (1922-1925) and then 519 10th St for many years.

Ethel started her working carrer as a clerk at J F Cairns, department store before becoming a music and voice teacher.

Ethel Wallace was born in February 1885 in Ontario to Samuel Wallace (b 1861) & Mary McC? (B 1868).

Ethel married George R Bailey and came to Cory, near Saskatoon by 1911. George was born in England in 1885 and came to Canada in 1905. George farmed on section 35/5/3.

Nothing further is known about either Ethel or George.

Ethel Jane Curry was born on 8 November 1883 in Montreal, Quebec to John Curry (1851-1897) and Mary McKnight (1858-1925). Ethel had one brother and six sisters. Ethel married James Albert (Bert) Bailey (1878-1930) in the early 1900s. They came to Saskatoon in 1914 where Bert found work in the Land Titles office as a clerk. A post he held throughout his life. Bert and Ethel had one son, John Colin (Jack) (1916-1995). Jack married Myra Lorraine McRobbie (1921-1999) whose father Alexander McRobbie (1886-1951) also signed the quilt.

Bert died on 7 January 1930 in Saskatoon. Ethel continued to live in Saskatoon and died on 22 May 1971. They were both buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.
