JANE ELIZABETH (LIZZIE) MERSMAN née FLETCHER
Jane Elizabeth (Lizzie) Fletcher was born on 28 May 1875 in Alliston, Simcoe, Ontario to George C Fletcher (1834-1908) and Ellen "Margaret" Ross (1839-1921). Her siblings were: William John (b 1864), Ellen Margaret (b 1866), Martha Mary (Minnie) (b 1870), Elvira Sarah Matilda (b 1872), Margaret Jane (b 1875), George "Alvin" Ross (b 1877) and Wilfred Harvey James (b 1881). The Fletcher family lived in Essa, Simcoe, Ontario in 1881 and in Alliston in 1891 and 1901.
Jane married Joseph "Edward" Mersman on 12 October 1905 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He was born on 8 November 1882 in St Louis, Missouri to Joseph John Mersman (1852-1925) and Johanna Nathan (1857-1913). His siblings were: William Claude (1877-1952), Florence Josephine (1880-1917), John N (1886-1976), Grace (b 1887) and Edna R (1893-1944). According to census records, he immigrated to Canada in 1903. He was enumerated in Saskatoon in 1906. Edward and Jane had three children: Gordon Edward (1907-1986), Ross Nathan (1908-1994) and William Alvin (1914-2004).
In 1909, Edward was employed as a manager by DH & WA Telford, real estate agents. Mr & Mrs Ed Mersman were on the roll of the 3rd Ave Church from 1907-1912. From 1911 to 1921, the Mersman family lived at 419 9th St E in Saskatoon. In 1921 Edward was described as a farmer in the Henderson City Directory. By 1930 they had moved to Los Angeles, California. Edward died on 16 November 1942 and Jane on 22 March 1952, both in Los Angeles.
