HELEN JANE (NELL) McNICHOL née MORENCY

Helen Jane (Nell) Morency was born on 18 June 1890 in Peterborough, Ontario to Joseph Anselme Morency (1857-1953) and Mary E Dundas (1862-1937). Her siblings were: Joseph Alexander (1886-1963), Marie Genevieve (Minnie) (1888-1954), George Herbert (1892-1972), Margaret A (Maggie) (1894-1971), Maria Josephine (Josie) (b 1899) and John James (Jack) (1900-1966). The Morency family lived in Smith, Peterborough in 1891 and Peterborough (city) in 1901.

On 4 February 1913 Helen married James Patrick McNichol in Peterborough, Ontario. He was born on 27 January 1890 in Hastings, Ontario to John McNichol (1837-1901) and Bridget (Biddy) White (1852-1932). His siblings were: Mary Ellen (b 1876), Daniel Ernest (b 1878), Eugene James (b 1880), Margaret Ann (Maggie) (b 1881), John Patrick (b 1883), Julia R (1885-1984), Catherine Agnes (Kate) (1887-1945) and John Gladstone (b 1887). The McNichol family lived in Hastings until at least 1901. In 1911, Bridget and several of the children, including James, were living in Peterborough.

In 1916 James and Helen were living in the Parkview Apartments on 5th Ave in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They lived at 445 5th Ave from at least 1918 to 1921. James was advertizing manager for J F Cairns. Helen and James had one daughter, Mary Margaret "Gene". Gene was born on 7 November 1918 in Saskatoon and died on 10 March 1981 in Vancouver, British Columbia. She married Kenneth Victor White.

James and Helen moved to British Columbia in about 1946 and James died in North Vancouver on 22 November 1971. Helen died in the same city on 10 June 1977 and both she and James were buried in Capilano View Cemetery in West Vancouver.
