LOUISA (LOUIE) DORIS McNEIL
Louisa (Louie) Doris McNeil was born on 20 August 1901 in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England to Archibald (Archie) McNeil (1857-1945) and Louisa Maria Tann (1863-1945). Her siblings were: Ethel Louisa (1885-1904), Alexander James (1887-1887), Archibald Charles (1888-1964), William John (1888-1972), Alexander James (1891-1897), Beatrice (1892-1967), Harold (1893-1973), Maysie (May) (1894-1993), Frederick Gordon (1897-1917), Stanley (1898-1920), Irene Lilian (1900-1998) and Mary Bertha (1904-2002).
It is likely that Louie's father came to Canada on SS ‘Kensington' in April of 1906. The passenger list only recorded the surname, sex (M), age (48) and final destination of Collingwood, Ontario. It is known that Archibald Sr did not come on either of the sailings that brought the rest of his family who, coincidentally, sailed on the same ship. On 18 June 1906, Archibald Jr, William, Harold, Beatrice, Louie and Margaret sailed from Liverpool England and arrived in Montreal, Quebec on 24 June 1906. Their final destination was Collingwood, Ontario. Fred, Stanley, Irene and Mary made the same voyage in July with their mother, Louise. Their final destination was Saskatchewan, where they were to meet with their father and husband.
By 1911 the family had moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. From 1916 to 1926 they lived at 822 29th St W. In 1918 Louie worked as a clerk for Saskatchewan Government Telephones and from 1924 to 1926 as a book keeper for Massey-Harris. Some time after this, Louie married Benjamin Robertson Lockhart (1900-1933) and they had one son, Rodney Benjamin Lockhart (1928-2005), who was the informant on her death registration. Rodney married Nona Rose Helena Baker (1925-2009) and predeceased her.
At the time of her death, Louie was married to Charles Cecil Hallam who was born on 30 December 1900 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England to Alfred Hallam (1864-1939) and Annie Rushton Oakes (1863-1916). His siblings were: Thomas Wilfred (1889-1964), John Archibald (1892-1969), George (1893-1893) and Arthur Gordon Hallam (1895-1980). The Hallam family lived in Saskatoon from at least 1911 to 1916.
Charles died on 9 July 1978 and Louie on 30 November 1978, both in Victoria, British Columbia.
