KENNETH LINDEN HARGREAVES

Kenneth Linden Hargreaves was born on 17 August 1914 to LLoyd Garrison Hargreaves (1890-1976) and May Fannie Aileen Linden (1892-1989).

Lloyd was born in Springhill, Cumberland, Nova Scotia which is where he grew up. Lloyd came west to Edmonton, Albert in about 1911 and found work as an assistant engineer with Gorman Clancey & Grindley Ltd. He was living at 768 7th St Edmonton in 1911 and 1912.

Lloyd married May on 11 November 1912 in Edmonton. May was working as a stenographer for Alberta Government Phones. She was living with her widowed mother Ida M Linden (1866-1946) and her sister Florence Margaret Irene Linden (b 1889) at 513 4th St, Edmonton.

It is unclear where Kenneth was born as we have found no records for the family between 1913 (Edmonton) and 1916 (Saskatoon).

Lloyd was working as a traveller for Mason & Hickey, Manufacturers’ Agents and living at 222 9th St, Saskatoon. He progressed with this company becoming a manager and representative. In about 1920, Lloyd, May, Kenneth and Lloyd’s widowed mother, Elizabeth moved to 1756 Comox St, Vanvouver, British Columbia. Lloyd worked briefly as a salesman for Hedley Shaw Milling and Bell & Mitchell before joining International Business Machines (IBM). By 1926, Lloyd was running his own business as a Manufacturers’ Agent.

In 1929, the Hargreaves family emigrated to the US and took US citizenship. Kenneth read engineering at University of Washington, Seattle and later worked as a engineering designer. Kenneth married Kathryn Ann Linden (1918-2006) on 11 December 1941. They had one son, David Alan (1945-2011).

Lloyd died on 3 February 1976 in Seattle, Washington. May died on 18 February 1989 also in Seattle.

Kenneth died on 25 June 2003 in Seattle.

This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Hargreaves Tree.

This is one of several examples of a young child being included on the quilt without any other family member signing.
