ELIZABETH REBECCA (LIZZIE) (EMMA) HARPER née ACKERT
Elizabeth Rebecca (Lizzie) (Emma) Ackert was born on 10 June 1879 in Lucknow, Bruce, Ontario to John Henry Ackert (1857-1925) and Emily Smith (1859-1940). Lizzie had four brothers, Eric Artemus Ernest (1883-1970), John Almer (1855-1931), Tennant (b 1890) and Harold Tennant (1892-1946).
Lizzie grew up in Kincardine/Kinloss, Bruce County, Ontario where her father was a cabinet maker and general woodworker. She married Robert James Harper on 2 September 1902 in Holyrood, Ontario. Robert was born on 25 July 1876 in Holyrood to John Harper (1828-1899) and Mary Ann Smith (b 1839). Robert had nine siblings, W John (b 1857), Sara (b 1859), Mary Jane (b 1862), Thomas (b 1864), Elizabeth Ann (b 1866), Emily Melissa (b 1868), Margaret Ellen (b 1870), Angeline Ann (1872-1962), George Alexander (1875-1949). John was a farmer at the time of his marriage.
Lizzie and John had four children, Muriel Emily (1905-1992), Alta May (1906-1999), Irene Elizabeth (b 1906) and Robert John (b 1914).
According to Robert’s obituary, the family came to Perdue in 1905 and Robert farmed there until about 1946 when he retired to Leney. In 1918-1919 there is an entry in Henderson’s Saskatoon directory for Robert J Harper, farmer living at 524 4th Ave N, Saskatoon which we believe may be Lizzie’s husband.
Lizzie died on 26 September 1950 and Robert on 16 December 1961 both in Perdue.
This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Harper Tree.
Perdue and Leney are small communities close to each other about 70km west of Saskatoon.
