ERNEST ROBINSON JONES

Ernest Robinson Jones was born on 29 May 1891 in Midland, Tay Township, Simcoe, Ontario to George James Jones (1859-1945) and Ann Jane Robinson (1859-1912. Ernest had seven siblings, Thomas Henry (b 1884), Herbert Stanley Gordon (1886-1956), Letitia Mildred (1889-1967), Franklin Melville (b 1893), Isabella Grace (b 1896), Wilma Ruth (1898-1960) and Ellen Reikes (1903-1903).

Ernest grew up on the family farm in Tay Township before coming west to Saskatchewan. On 5 November 1914, Ernest obtained a homestead grant on SW-14-24-25-W3 in RM Chesterfield near Saskatoon. He enlisted on 17 June 1916. Following his war service he a soldier’s land grant at SE-9-60-19-W3. According to his obituary, Ernest had farmed in rural Saskatchewan since 1917. No wife is mentioned in his obituary. Ernest died on 28 November 1954 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.
