ALFRED GARNET MANNERING

Alfred Garnet Mannering was born on 7 July 1882 in Stratford, Perth, Ontario to Charles Mannering (1843-1895) and Amelia Colomba Pistoyia (1842-1904). His siblings were: Alice Maud (1871-1875), Albert (b 1876), Raphael Richard (1877-1879), Frederick (1880-1887) and Beatrice (b 1885). In 1891 he was living with his family in Stratford.

Alfred married Valesha J Frahm on 29 April 1907 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois. Valesha was born to Theodore Frahm (1837-1905) and Jeanette Anding (1839-1890). She had three siblings: Paulinna (b 1867), Max (b 1870) and Herman (b 1878) and one half brother, Walter T (b 1881) born to her father's second wife, Ida (b 1865).

Alfred and Valesha had two boys in Chigaco who died at birth or as infants, one in 1908 and one in 1917. Valesha died on 4 October 1920 in Chicago.

In 1918 and 1919 Alfred was living at 620 4th Ave North in Saskatoon and in 1920 and 1921 at 427 4th Ave North. While in Saskatoon he was a superintendent at J F Cairns department store. Unfortunately, the Henderson listings for this person is just listed an A G Mannering, so we cannot be positive that the man in Saskatoon was the same person described in the rest of this biography.

Alfred married Lillian Reynolds on 5 November 1927 in Vancouver, British Columbia. On his marriage registration, he listed his marital status as widower, his residence as Powell River, British Columbia and his occupation as chiropractor. According to his British Columbia death registration, Alfred retired from being a chiropractor in 1947 and had practiced that profession for 15 years. Lillian was born on 6 June 1885 in Hamilton, Ontario to James Reynolds (b 1846) and Isabel Fielder (b 1843). Her siblings were: James (b 1868), Isabella (b 1871), Harriet (Hattie) (b 1872), Amelia Jane (b 1874), Sarah Elizabeth (b 1877) and Thomas (b 1881). Lillian was raised in Hamilton, Ontario.

Alfred died on 2 February 1961 in Essondale, British Columbia and Lillian on 23 November 1967 in Vancouver.
