 IRENE BEATRICE MAGUIRE

Irene Beatrice Maguire was born on 22 August 1905 in the Rural Municipality of Whitewater, Manitoba to John Webster Maguire (1868-1942) and Ethel Rose Banks (1872-1971). Her siblings were: Hilda Prairie Bella Webster (1898-1991), Percey Hathaway Banks (1899-1984), Clarence Edmund (1902-1982), Webster Tubman (1910-2002) and Ethel Eveline (1914-2006). In 1906 the Maguire family was living in Souris, Manitoba.

By 1911 they had moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and lived at 216 Poplar Crescent from at least 1916 to 1921. Mrs J W Maguire first appeared on the roll for 3rd Ave Methodist Church in 1912. Irene taught music during the 1920s, possibly taking students at the family home on Poplar Crescent.

Irene’s brother Clarence became a doctor and went to work at John Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, USA. In 1941 there was a border crossing document for Irene that gave her last permanent address as 216 Poplar Crescent, Saskatoon and her occupation as stenographer. She seems to have spent her later years in the United States She died in the U S, possibly in Washington, DC on 7 March 1990 and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon. It would appear that she remained single as she was listed under her maiden name in the cemetery index.

This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Maguire Tree.
