REBECCA "MARGARET" (MAGGIE) MAGILL
Rebecca "Margaret" (Maggie) Magill was born on 21 October 1887 in Ontario to William Magill (1854-1930) and Louisa Ellen Dobson (1854-1930). Her siblings were: Thomas H (b 1879), Helen (Ellen) Jane (b 1880) and David Samuel (1889-1961). In 1891 the Magill family was living in Tarentorous, Algoma, Ontario and in 1901, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
By 1906, Margaret and her brother, David, were living with their sister, Ellen Cornish, and her family in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. From 1906 to 1921 Margaret continued to live with her sister's family at 131 Ave F N (1916) and 216 20th St W (1921). In 1911 she was working as a clerk for the post office and in later census records and Henderson Saskatoon City Directories was listed as a hair dresser.
In 1921 she was working at a beauty salon operated by Miss M Hair who also signed the quilt. In 1925 she was no longer listed at the same address as her sister and was living at #410 Drinkle Building No 3, 115 3rd Ave S and working as a clerk for Flanagan Hotel Beauty Parlours. This was the last year that Margaret was listed in the city directories and nothing further was discovered about her.
Her brother, David, remained in Saskatoon and worked as a fire fighter for the rest of his life. In his 1961 obituary, the only sibling survivor was his sister, Ellen Cornish, who was living in Windsor, Ontario.
This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Magill Tree.
