DANIEL JOSEPH LEDDY

Daniel Joseph Leddy was born on 28 August 1885 in Victoria, Ontario to Patrick Leddy (1842-1912) and Anne Twohy (1844-1886). His siblings were: Ellen Teresa (b 1872), Mary A (1875-1901), Rosanna (b 1876), John Patrick (1877-1927), Catherine (b 1879), James Joseph (1880-1929), Michael Joseph (b 1882) and Margaret (b 1884). Daniel was raised in Ops, Victoria, Ontario. His mother died in childbirth when he was about 2 years old.

Daniel married Mary Ann Ling on 13 July 1915 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was born on 15 June 1885 in Ottawa, Ontario to Richard P Ling (b 1845) and Catherine C McCarthy (b 1853). Her siblings were: Daniel Patrick (b 1877), Catherine (b 1882), Katherine (Katie) (b 1895) and James Richard (b 1896). In 1891 the Ling family was living in North Gower, Carleton, Ontario and from 1901 to 1911 in Ottawa.

In 1916 Mary and Daniel were living at #4 522 11th Street in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They lived at several locations in Saskatoon: 820 12th Street (1918), 407 Ave C South (1919) and 539 3rd Ave N (1920-1921). From 1916 to 1919, Daniel was a sheriff's officer and from 1920 to 1921 he worked for Sask Brewing Company. Daniel and Mary had at least three children, two girls and a boy.

The Leddy family moved to British Columbia in about 1930. When they first moved to Vancouver they lived at 2465 West 6th Ave and Daniel was proprietor of a barber shop. From 1935 until at least 1940 they lived at 2248 West 4th Ave in Vancouver and Daniel was employed as a salesman. Daniel died on 23 July 1950 and Mary on 18 May 1955. Both died in Vancouver and were buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia.
