MARY “FRANCES” LEACH and MARTHA “KATHLEEN” LEACH

Mary "Frances" Leach was born on 3 September 1897 in Wells, Nevada to Frank Fremont Leach (1864-1912) and Sallye Low (Sadie) LaBoiteaux (1867-1953). Her siblings were: Martha "Kathleen" (1900-1990) and Frank Fremont (1906-1962). Kathleen was born on 28 Sep 1900 in Wells. The Leach family lived in Clover Valley Elko, Nevada in 1900 and Ogden, Utah in 1910.

On 13 November 1917, Sadie married Joseph J O'Brien who had been enumerated with the family in the 1900 census. On 22 June 1918, Sadie and the three children crossed the border at Coutts, Alberta with a final destination of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Frances and Kathleen first appeared in Saskatoon Henderson Directories in 1919 living at 232 Ave E North. Frances was a stenographer with International Harvester Company. Kathleen was a stenographer for J H Ashdown Hardware. In 1921, the entire family was enumerated under the surname O'Brien at 502 Walmer Road. Joseph was listed as a farmer and Frances and Kathleen as stenographers. Oddly, Joseph was never listed in the Henderson Directories, but Sadie, Kathleen and Frances were all listed separately in all years until 1924. Frank was listed as a student in 1924 which was the last year they were in the directories. Frances and Kathleen remained employed at the same places during their time in Saskatoon.

By 1930, Frances had moved to Monrovia, Los Angeles, California. She died in San Gabriel, Los Angeles on 13 November 1983. Kathleen was in Los Angeles, Los Angeles in 1930. She married Michael Morgan Schofield (b 1900) and died in San Jose, Santa Clara, California on 9 July 1990. Sadie died in Los Angeles on 13 February 1953.
