ERB/FREDERICK/GEDDES/ROSS

Levi Clemens Erb (1837-1912) and his wife, Magdelene Good (1839-1895), came to Culross from Floradale, Wellington, Ontario as a young couple. They settled on Lot 7, Concession 12 and in 1892 they bought Lot 6, Concession 13. Levi and Magdelene had seven children,

Joseph (1858-1889),
Mary Ann (b 1860),
Elizabeth (1861-1957),
Jacob C (1865-1943),
Levi (1866-1947),
Israel (1873-1947) and
Enoch (1880-1941).

Jacob C Erb married Mary Jane Sillick on 8 November 1887 in Culross. Mary was born on 24 July 1863 in Culross to John Sillick (1836-1914) and Ann Newman (1840-1901). Mary had five siblings, Avis Ann (1864-1957), William (1866-1942), John Abraham (1869-1922), Sarah Amelia (b 1874) and Joseph Newman (1878-1965).

Jacob and Mary had two children,

Wilbur Sillick (1889-1972) and
Ethel Lauretta “Pearl” (1892-1951).

Wilbur was born on 20 May 1889 in Culross. He enlisted in the CEF, 1st Depot Battalion with service no. 3139641 at London, Ontario on 1 August 1916. Following WWI, Wilbur married Sarah McIntosh on 13 August 1919 in Walkerton. Sarah was born on 7 August 1901 in Kinloss Twp to George Alexander McIntosh (1863-1910) and Jane Gaunt (1873-1936).

Wilbur died in 1972 and Sarah died in 1976; they are both buried in Durham Road Baptist / Riversdale Baptist Cemetery, Bruce County as are Jacob and Mary who both died in 1943.

Levi Erb married Angeline Sittler on 8 June 1892 in Walkerton, Bruce County. Angeline was born on 2 April 1873 in Waterloo, Waterloo County to John Jacob Sittler (1845-1915) and Sarah A Good (1852-1916). Angeline had two siblings, Rachel Ann (1873-1914) and Ezra (1879-1966).

Levi and Angeline had three children,

Sarah Ann (1893-1948),
Mary Elizabeth (b 1896) and
Magdalena (b 1898).

Levi died 1947 and Angeline died in 1953; they are both buried in Durham Road Baptist / Riversdale Baptist Cemetery, Bruce County.

Sarah Ann Erb was born on 12 May 1893 in Culross. She married Frederick Theodore Geddes on 25 December 1913 in Teeswater. Frederick was born on 7 February 1888 in Culross to Robert Geddes (1844-1911) and Sarah Parker (1850-1948). Frederick had four siblings, Elizabeth (1873-1943), Eleanor (1875-1958), Diana (1878-1907) and Ann Jane (1882-1971).

Sarah and Frederick had three children,

Angeline Sarah (1915-2003),
Nellie (b 1917) and
Mary (b 1920).

Sarah Ann died in 1948 and Frederick died in 1978; they are both buried in the Culross-Teeswater Cemetery.

Ann Jane Geddes was born on 31 March 1882 in Culross. Ann married John Frederick on 17 January 1912 in Culross. John was born in about 1874 Culross to John Frederick (Johannes Friedrich) (1848-1936) and Maria (Mary) Rumig (1853-1926). John had five siblings, Joseph (b 1875), Henery (Harry) (b 1879), Margaret (b 1883), Annie (1885-1971) and George (1891-1976).

John died on 1 June 1960 and Ann died on 1 January 1971, both are buried in Culross-Teeswater Cemetery.

Jacob and Mary’s second child, Ethel Lauretta “Pearl” Erb married George Thomas “Walter” Ross on 25 December 1912 in Teeswater, Bruce County. Walter was born on 4 June 1886 in Culross to James Ross (1837-1894) and Mary Ann Cosgrove (1847-1908). Walter had four siblings, James Henry H (1879–1958), John Frederick William (b 1884), Susan Mary Ellen (1888–1975) and Charles Wellington (1891–1974).

Walter and his brother, John, were described as farmers in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan in 1911 and after their marriage, Walter and Pearl farmed in Culross.

Pearl and Walter had two children,

WIlfred (b 1917) and
Erb (b 1921).
